All summer we've been looking forward to The Base Camp Bash, a fundraising outdoor music party & BBQ to support the environmental work and efforts of Crag Law Center.

Crag Law Center supports community efforts to protect and sustain the Pacific Northwest’s natural legacy.

The non-profit organization's goal is to support the restoration and protection of the environment by providing a full range of legal services (for free or as close to free as possible) to local citizens, conservation groups, recreation clubs, native peoples and organizations seeking to protect, preserve and restore the environment.

Please join us for dinner, drinks and dancing on the banks of the Willamette. The Base Camp Bash will feature kids’ activities and music with Caroline Oakley and Maggie Lind, live music by Appalachian Indie Roots band The Black Lillies, and an all-ages square dance til’ sunset with Maggie Lind and the Flat Rock Stringband.

The Base Camp Bash is being organized by Suzanne Savell, who we first met through her amazing work with Whitesburg, Kentucky's Appalshop. Suzanne considers The Base Camp Bash "one of the most awesome music-focused parties I've ever put together." That's saying a lot considering her long & accomplished history as an music events organizer.

We can't wait until next weekend, and thanks once again, Suzanne, for your organizing energy and for continuing the good work in the Pacific Northwest!

The historic Edgefield really was originally built in 1911 as the Multnomah County Poor Farm, but visitors will find a much different experience now, 100 years later. One of the largest and most impressive McMenamins complexes, the Edgefield features amazing gardens, a vineyard, a meticulously renovated veranda-clad main building, and of course, many pubs and bars.

It's a perfect setting to spend a nice summer evening, so please join us!

It has been awhile since we've checked in to say hi. We've been clobbered by that tyrannous old Man Time, and lookie! It's already summer! Well, I guess it's only been summer for a couple days here in Portland, but still, time is flying.

We're back at the Palace of Industry on every other Wednesday. This Wednesday, July 11th, but not the 18th. It's going to go like that. And the weeks we're not there, there will be other old-time music players there in our place, so regardless, the sound track at the Palace of Industry on any given Wednesday night will go like this: Bump Bomp! Bump Bomp! Bum Ditty! Bum Ditty! Boom Chuck! Boom Chuck! Squeaky! Squeaky! A beautiful and trance-y collection of sounds that make the feet tap and the gullet fill with pints of beer. Ahh, summer. And now that the weather has turned, the roll-up door has been open at the Palace, and the unusually large and comfortable patio even feels bigger and more summery. Hope to see you there sometime, Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:30.
